That's El Camino de las Serpientes – The Way of the Serpent. Arizonans' respect for the Diamondback is so grand they named their Major League Baseball team after it. These jersey colors bring forward the Sonoran desert sand from the D-backs' brand and have “Serpientes” winding across the chest.

The winning choice was "Diamondbacks", after the Western diamondback, a rattlesnake native to the region known for injecting a large amount of venom when it strikes.

Why choose the name 'Serpientes'? The Diamondbacks' team name alludes to the rattlesnake indigenous to the Sonoran Desert. Serpientes is the Spanish-language plural translation of the word snake. The black typography of the word 'Serpientes' on the jersey resembles a semi-coiled rattlesnake, alert and ready to attack.

Since July 3, the D-backs are 31-12, leading the major leagues in victories, OPS (. 844), on-base percentage (. 351), slugging percentage (. 492), runs per game (6.49) and total bases (759).

D-Baxter alludes to the D-Backs, the team's unofficial moniker. Thus, the Diamondbacks' renowned bobcat mascot was originally designed to honor Bank One Ballpark, which was renamed Chase Field in 2005. Prior to that, the team had a hard time coming up with a snake mascot.
