frames missed/skipped due to rendering/encoding lag help? (2024)

i've been constantly having an issue with frames missed due to rendering lag and skipped frames due to encoding lag. i've looked all over online to find a fix for this, but everything i've tried has not resolved my issue. i'm not sure what else to do.

cpu: i9-10900KF

gpu: nvidia geforce rtx 3080

mb: gigabyte z590 aorus master

ram: cirsaur vengeance rgb pro 64gb ddr4 3600

current settings in obs(which log is from)

bitrate 6k

encoder nvenc

res - 1080p

60fps

(these are the settings i got from the auto config tool)

i've updated all my drivers, i have played around with bitrate, using CBR, using x264, changed the resolution to 720p, capped my game at 60fps, lowered graphic settings in game. my cpu and gpu have barely hit 30% utilization, and a few times i've gotten the message saying my encoder is overloader. i'm not sure what else to try...

help?

1. The new Windows 10 Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling ("HAGS") added with version 2004 is currently known to cause performance and capture issues with OBS, games and overlay tools. It's a new and experimental feature and we recommend disabling it via these instructions.
2. Multiple Game Capture sources are usually not needed, and can sometimes interfere with each other. You can use the same Game Capture for all your games! If you change games often, try out the hotkey mode, which lets you press a key to select your active game. If you play games in fullscreen, use 'Capture any fullscreen application' mode.

If still having issues, then please post a link to a clean log file. To make a clean log file, please follow these steps:

1) Restart OBS.
2) Start your stream/recording for at least 30 seconds. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.
3) Stop your stream/recording.
4) Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Send that link here.

so i did both of those and it seemed to be running better, but then it started doing the same thing again

- You may have multiple source of games in X scene that you have , go to that scene and HIDE everything but the game that you are playing,

I didn't have this issue to start with, but lately I am. Read that it may be stream elements live (SE>Live) that maybe causing it and to uninstall it then reinstall obs. Still same issue. help? https://obsproject.com/logs/mBn0JYyN79dmMxJK

Side note: There doesn't seem to be a video issue when i view it through OBS, only on twitch or if I have recorded it and rewatch it afterwards are there video issues.

Please help me

This has never happened, and just happened today, the fps in game is 60, but in obs it's like 10-30 fps, even though it says 60 fps on obs. I made a comparison with the nvidia geforce and this is the result of a 25 second video on youtube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJRtuDat7mU

1. Make sure OBS set to run on High Performance. See https://obsproject.com/wiki/Laptop-Troubleshooting
2. Run OBS as Admin. Right click on the OBS shortcut, properties, advanced, check box, ok, apply, ok. This may be a bit different on Win11
3. Your log contains no recording or streaming session. Results of this log analysis are limited. Please post a link to a clean log file.

Im having very similar issues. i was running 32gb of ram DDR$ 2400mhz, installed 128gb of 3600mhz and now running obs and animaze while gaming results in frame loss, and major lag while encoding. here are some logs and my specs:

In both logs, when SE starts there's pretty much nothing but errors. I don't do SE so I skipped all of it.

Anyway, here are some items to address.
