The Best Reactors For Each Descendant
Among the various items available in The First Descendant that can improve your character build, Reactors are integral to equip for enhancing your base Skills and stats, as well as your overall damage output. These equipable items not only make boss fights against Colossi more manageable but are also useful in helping you become victorious in all your missions in the game.
There are many types of Reactors in The First Descendant, all with unique bonuses tied to different attributes, so you can only equip specific Descendants with the varying Reactors available. Due to all these factors to consider, combined with the fact that many players aren't aware of how to get them, it's important to learn how to use Reactors and where you're most likely to pick one up.

How To Use Reactors
Equip Them To Weapons
Reactors are a type of equipment used by characters in The First Descendant to channel their Arche Abilities. Each Reactor has two types of Skill Power Boosts relative to the Element and Arche Type of Skills.
All Descendants have a particular Skill type, so by using particular Reactors, you can enhance that specific Skill type as long as it is compatible. You can check both the skill types of Descendants and Reactors in their skill tooltips to see if you have any Reactors that can match a Descendant you have unlocked.
Moreover, Reactors also have an 'Optimal Condition', which players must meet to activate its power. This usually requires equipping a Reactor with a specific weapon type, which is used as a primary weapon. This will allow you to use bonuses more often, giving you unique effects on the battlefield.
Similarly, the 'Optimization Condition' of a Reactor grants even greater boosts to skill power and usually depends on whether the weapon is equipped or a specific Descendant is being used. Look again at the Reactor's tooltip to see if this condition has been met.
The last component is 'Random Bonuses,' which Reactors may come with when dropped, potentially complimenting your character build in The First Descendant. The best way to obtain a Reactor with the best bonuses is to farm for them until you find one that synergizes well with the abilities of your Descendant.
How To Enhance Reactors
Reactors can also be upgraded, which is a crucial aspect of boosting their effectiveness and improving your character's performance. This will allow your character to handle tougher encounters against enemies during combat, especially as your Reactors gain higher-level enhancements.
To upgrade these equipable items, head to the Workbench in Albion or to field camps if you're at Mastery Rank 6. Enhancing your Reactors consumes 'Ion Accelerators,' which are required at different amounts for the process, depending on the tier or level in The First Descendant of your chosen Reactor. Moreover, this number increases alongside the Reactor's Enhancement Level.
Reactors come in three tiers; Standard, Rare, and Ultimate. Based upon these tiers, Reactors will have different maximum enhancements. For example, a common-tier reactor can be upgraded up to Level 2, while an Ultimate-tier Reactor can go all the way up to Level 8. You can view the Reactors' levels in the top-right corner of their respective icons, making it easy to track their progress.
All Reactors & How to Get Them
Best Farming Methods
Players can get Reactors in many ways, but the best way to do so is to farm for them, much like you would with Modules in The First Descendant. The best activity to achieve this is participating in Void Intercept Battles, which are fairly quick and available on both Normal and Hard Mode, making it approachable for players of all levels.
Doing so can also gain Amorphous Material Patterns as rewards, thereby obtaining codes to unlock new Descendant Characters. This means that if you get a Reactor that isn't compatible with your roster of researched Descendants, you may acquire a new character who could best utilize a Reactor in your collection.
LaserBolt recommends getting the Ultimate-tier Burning Mechanics Reactor this week, set with the 'Additional Skill ATK When Attacking Colossus' bonus, which would best synergize with Lepic. This drop is available in various missions around White-night Gulch.
The YouTuber states that you can get it from the Triumphal Arch Battlefield mission, which is available until 12 August 2024. By checking the Reward Info section when checking out missions, you will see if they offer Reactor rewards, allowing you to know what items you will get by completing these objectives.
When fighting against various bosses in The First Descendant, many will drop high-quality reactors, which is the main reason for participating in these battles. Get yourself a reliable team if you find any of these confrontations challenging to secure a victorious defeat, and get yourself some powerful equipment.
Aside from boss fights, you can also purchase Reactors from the Weapons Lab Director, Deslin, at the Albion. However, his inventory is fairly limited, as he only stocks Reactors of the lowest level. While these can still be enhanced, it may be a waste of money. Reactors can be obtained for free with unique drops, so it's best not to frivolously spend your hard-earned Gold in The First Descendant.
