Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero keeps its gameplay engaging with a wide variety of customization options, both cosmetic and combat-related. For the latter, the game introduces Ability Items, which resemble capsules you can equip to enhance your characters with specific buffs.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero - Character Unlock Guide
Sparking Zero's roster is massive and you'll need to put in the work to unlock most of it - here's how.

These buffs come in all shapes and sizes, affecting mechanics like Ki blasts, HP, defense, offense, and more. However, with 90 different capsules, each available at various price points and Star Ranks, finding the optimal ones can be tricky, especially when you're limited by the in-game currency, Zeni. Fortunately, there are a few premium-tier options that should give you the most bang for your buck.
You can apply Ability Items via the Customize Menu for each character.
8 Vanishing Break
Cost: 45,000 Zeni
As you fight and climb higher ranks, you'll notice how frequently opponents perform follow-up attacks with vanishes. At best, you can chain two Vanishing Attacks before doing a dive-kick ender. With Vanishing Break, your Vanishing Attacks increase by one, marginally extending your combo, which could be vital if your opponent's just one punch away from dying.
This is a sneaky power-up because the opponent won't expect the extra hit, and for its price, this is one of the most economical Ability Items you can get. Of course, that extra Vanishing Attack is susceptible to a counter-vanish, so be ready if your opponent reacts to it.
7 Draconic Aura
Cost: 150,000 Zeni
The Draconic Aura provides a simple yet extremely rewarding buff to your character: increasing the chance to stun opponents. Stun locking has multiple benefits — you can use that time to tag out, transform, do a combo, or, most importantly, perform a successful special attack with minimal effort.

Super brought some overpowered characters and transformations to the Dragon Ball universe. These ones stand out in Sparking Zero.
Setting up your opponent for a special attack they can't block can be quite tricky, and even the slightest miscalculation can cause you to waste a healthy slice of Ki gauge. Therefore, potentially getting that setup for free with Draconic Aura opens possibilities your opponent isn't even aware of. You can stun them when they don't expect it and follow it up with a devastating attack.
6 Almighty Boost
Cost: None (Exclusive Item)
As the name suggests, Almighty Boost is an all-encompassing Ability Item that slightly enhances several attributes, which include Rush Attack's power, Smash Attack, Rush Chain Attack, Rush Ki Blast, and Smash Ki Blast's attack power. The individual bonuses are fairly modest, with each stat receiving almost a two percent boost, but when they stack up, you can definitely feel the difference.
This is mainly an offense-based item, so it's best to pair it with characters with higher overall attack power. For instance, you can equip the Almighty Boost with one of the fusions or even the characters from the Tournament of Power, like Jiren or Anilaza. Regardless, you won't regret reserving an item slot for this powerful capsule.
5 Perfect Guard
Cost: 150,000 Zeni
Chip damage is real and lethal in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. Although you're encouraged to block your opponent's attacks, you still lose a decent portion of HP if they perform a strong Ki-based attack. In that situation, the Perfect Guard comes in — an elite Ability Item that nullifies any damage when guarding.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero - How To Quickly Raise Character Proficiency
Raising all 182 character's proficiency levels might seem like a tall task, but there's an easy trick.
This is an ideal item for any matchup, especially against opponents who spam ultimate attacks. You don't need to dodge away from those attacks preemptively; instead, you can simply tank them and continue building your own Ki gauge. With Perfect Guard, you can save 25–35 percent worth of health gauge you'd otherwise lose guarding a special attack.
4 Rush Attack Boost 3
Cost: 150,000 Zeni
Rush Attacks are your primary source of damage in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, so boosting their power with Rush Attack Boost 3 offers a considerable advantage. With this, your Rush Attacks have anywhere between five and seven percent better damage output. It may not seem like much, but the more you chain your combos, the more noticeable it gets.
Similar to Almighty Boost, this Ability Item is best for characters with high-damage Rush Attacks, like Gogeta, or whose Rush Attacks don't end with a Smash property, like Roshi. Additionally, once you enter Sparking Mode, you can unleash a barrage of Rush Attacks with enhanced damage, where the Rush Attack Boost 3 item truly shines.
3 Dende's Healing Ability
Cost: 45,000 Zeni
Characters like Yajirobe and mechanics like mid-game fusing are overpowered in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero because they restore health, a crucial and limited resource. Health regeneration is rare, but you can get this valuable buff by equipping Dende's Healing Ability, a capsule that automatically restores half a health gauge after 60 seconds.

Go get 'em, slugger.
Outside character-specific skills, tagging out is the only other way to regain HP. With this Ability Item, however, you just need to focus on defense and outlasting your opponent. You'll passively restore a chunk of HP every minute, making this ability highly useful for any character.
2 Super Sparking
Cost: None (Exclusive Item)
Sparking Mode offers several different buffs — stronger attacks, longer Rush Attacks, and an extremely formidable Ultimate Blast at hand. However, the mode only lasts for a couple of seconds, so if you want to increase its duration and potency, Super Sparking is your best bet.
As a premium Ability Item, this enhancement increases your Sparking Mode's Rush Attacks by a whopping 15 percent. On top of that, the Sparking Mode itself continues roughly five seconds longer, giving you more time to dish out fierce attacks and finish off with a character-wiping ender.
1 God Ki
Cost: 150,000 Zeni
If you're someone who usually relies on Ki Blasts to keep your opponents in check, then God Ki is a must-have Ability Item for you. Although it has a hefty price, it reduces the Ki cost for Blasts by half. Even better, if you fire a Blast and it misses, the Ki used is instantly recovered, allowing continuous pressure without draining your resources.
This is one of the most powerful items compared to other all-purpose alternatives. It's especially useful for characters whose blasts are habitually missing by being too slow or clunky. You can conserve your Ki for other Ultimate Blasts while simultaneously having enough to annoy your opponent with regular Blasts.
