RustDesk is a free open-source remote desktop software that gives you complete control of your data for improved security.Download the source code and follow the guide to set up your server or use a relay server. Some great alternative options include TeamViewer or Ultraviewer.
Carriez Studio developed the free RustDesk for Windows using Rust language. You can use it on Windows 8, 8.1 or Windows 10. You can provide the developer with suggestions or feedback by sending them an email.
The RustDesk remote desktop software uses TLS 1.3 end-to-end encryption used by banks to protect PCs from unlawful access. The software lets you set up an enterprise network to ensure complete control of your data.
Best features
You determine image quality, with the ability to adjust the bitrate and quantizer. The file manager lets you transfer files between PCs. Set up TCP tunnelling and get access with one click to the RDP connection.
RustDesk doesn’t need administrator rights or any configuration to use. Install a server-side ID and relay server software to create your cloud. The open-source software is a simple process to set up the server address on the client’s side.
How to use
RustDesk functions as a server and a client, both used remotely and the local PC. You can identify the device's ID and password when launching the software on the remote PC. Users can change the access details if necessary.
Next to the device ID, use the menu icon to toggle various options such as the keyboard or mouse, file transfer, TCP Tunneling or Audio Input. Be aware that the software doesn’t allow users to control permissions.
Launch Rustdesk on the local computer and enter the access details. Once connected, you’ll have full-screen viewing and use of the mouse and clipboard of the remote computer. The most significant advantage of RustDesk is that you can connect to numerous PCs at once. For faster connections, run the software from your own server.
